Prudish Brits Live Up To Reputation

LONDON, UK, April 02, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Famous for having a stiff upper lip but sadly not for sharing their passion in the bedroom, Brits are living up to their international reputation as a nation of prudes when it comes to sex, according to a recent international study by www.cosmopolitan.co.uk

The research, based on more than 9,400 respondents throughout the UK, USA, Germany, Finland, Russia and Sweden, was conducted by the leading women's website to discover the differences in sexual tastes, attitudes and appetites.

Of those surveyed by www.cosmopolitan.co.uk , Brits lead the way when it comes to safe sex - 72% don't have unprotected sex whilst the Fins are least responsible with only 56% being careful in the sack. A further 90% of Brits claim to have never had an STD, while yet again, Finland is the lowest with 68%.

To reaffirm their position, 89% of Brits think it is the responsibility of both parties to carry a condom as opposed to the Russians who, with 65%, are last.

But when it comes to stripping back the bed sheets, Brits are definitely the most prudish. According to the www.cosmopolitan.co.uk survey, Brits are much less inclined to get-up close and personal with strangers - scoring the lowest when it comes to having sex with someone they've met on the internet (16%) while Germans remain on top with 27%.

In addition, Brits again topped the poll with 96% never having had group sex, while the kinky Fins were at the bottom with 77%.

As true believers in monogamy, 76% of Brits have not had an affair yet the Germans seem to love extra-marital activities with 54% admitting to having one.

The British affair with prudishness is also reaffirmed behind closed doors. 54% regularly use a sex toy and 22% have used a webcam in a sexual way - both are the highest stats and both don't require the involvement of anyone else.

Confident in their practice of safe sex, 87% of Brits never think they're at risk of Aids and a further 78% have never had an Aids test.

One statistic that all six countries did agree on was which celebrity they would most likely sleep with. Johnny Depp topped the poll, followed by Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom.
